Our story

Named for Grandma Margarita.

MHB stands for Margarita Hernandez Barbosa, our owner's grandmother. We're a family business, and her name leads the way in everything we do.

Margarita is Spanish for daisy. So our logo is a daisy with a golden drop of oil at its center: a small reminder that every drop we collect gets a second life.

That's how we want to show up for every kitchen we serve: like family.

Why recycle

Good for your pipes.
Good for LA.

Used cooking oil doesn't belong down the drain. Collected and recycled, it becomes something useful.

  • Protects the sewer system

Grease poured down the drain cools, hardens and sticks inside pipes, and it can lead to sewer blockages and overflows.[1]

  • Feeds renewable fuel

Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that can be made from vegetable oils, animal fats and recycled restaurant grease.[2]

  • Keeps your back door tidy

A clean, dedicated bin keeps used oil contained, instead of sitting in open buckets by the back door.
